at first i thought these were computer generated... very cool idea. the purple photo is definitely a lot sharper and it has more of a mix of colors, which i like. but the red color is striking too. did you take these with a tripod? and was it a short exposure or long? do you like the laserpod?
thanks! i had planned to take pics earlier in the day (brought my cam to work) but had no time... got home after 11 and thought, oh crap, gotta take a pic still, so i came up with that.
i used a gorillapod tripod, but the pic was kind of tilted, so i was kindof pressing on it a little to try to straighten it, and i think that kind of messed up the results a little. in the future, i would try to learn how to set up a delayed shutter release and not be touching the tripod when shooting.
it's cool, i only learned last night that you can click to get info about how a photo was shot on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photo_exif.gne?id=2342797082&context=photostream
if you look to the right of the photo, under 'additional information' it will say taken with [whatever kind of camera] then a link under that that says 'more properties'... click on that to get exif data...
but to answer your question, the aperture was 5.6 for both shots, but the exposure for the red one was a longer (0.3 vs 0.05 sec) so maybe that's why there's a difference.
i do like the laserpod, but we don't use it all the time. we also have a mathmos projector and use that quite a bit more...
neat pics! what's a laserpod? i agree that with purple one you can see more of the details of the skull. maybe with shorter exposure, you would get that too with the red one. i didn't know there is such a thing as putting a delay on the shutter. do all cameras do that or only expensive ones?
hmmm, i don't know if i can w/ the canon, but i could w/ my fuji, so i'm assuming i can. for the fuji, i would just go into the menu and set a 2 or 10 second delay. that way, everything has time to settle after you push the button. i did this also when i was taking pics of myself wearing clothes that i made b/c i didn't have a remote...
cool gadgets! maybe i will get one for jb. oh right about shutter timer!! of course, i was confused or not thinking laterally. i think the later. i always thought of the timer as something i use for group photos when i want to be in the pic too. haha
