judith day 3

I spent tonight wrapping up this pose with Judith. Next week we're going to a new one! I had some trouble with the wires getting in the way on her right hand so it looks too big, but I'm happy with the progress on the face and with the decision to move her right arm to the back.

wow, this is great, so graceful and elegant. i love the work that you did on the face---very expressive---and the fact that you changed the arm pose, like you were saying---they seem to go well together. are you done working on it completely or will you continue to refine even more?

thanks! I'm done with it for now, but I'll probably use a new armature next week and keep this one around for a while. I have several sculptures in this limbo state. Not sure what to do with them :).

nice finish! i like how you did her face and hair. i think my favorite parts are the back and ribs. i was just wondering what you do with the finished piece. do you end up taking it apart? that must be painful

lovely sculpture! the additional details in the head wrap and facial features are so well done. the closed eyes give her a meditative look. it would be so cool if you could cast her in a more permanent material. here is a site with some mold making materials:

don't know if any of that stuff might work. i guess it would be too expensive to get her cast in bronze, unless you know someone who works in a foundry.

thanks everyone. She is indeed wearing a head wrap but from a lot of angles it does look like hair. Thanks for the link robinde... I am definitely interested in casting, though it's a bit daunting. I know the crucible in berkeley offers a bronze casting class. I would be happy with just resin, but at this scale I"d probably have to get into silicone or wax molds, and I've only tried plaster.
