Birthday Invitation
Last night I finished the image for the invitation to my daughter's first birthday. I am very happy with how it turned out. When I set out to tackle this project I initially felt disheartened. I was struggling to get the ethereal-spring quality I love so much. However, on day two, I broke through my creative block!

maybe it's the asian background or the crown or the giant bird, but this collage reminds me of a fairy tale illustration. i also love all of the extra details... the victorian-looking cake, the tiny teacup, the funky chandelier. what a lovely 1st birthday invitation!
i also can't get over how much hair your adorable daughter has compared to mine (zoe is 16 months old and basically bald). did you use Photoshop to make the collage? where did you find the images? very nice!
this is great! i agree w/ robinde about it having a fairy-tale illustration feel, it reminded me of alice in wonderland maybe because of the tea party elements. it is a very whimsical and fun design, the colors/palette work well together. and yes, your daughter is adorable!
what a cool invitation card. your daughter is really cute too. i like how u placed a crown on her. it fits her perfectly and not just size-wise. she has a look of royalty, i think maybe the confidence in her face. the illustrations reminds me of tea time in "alice in wonderland". yes, what did u use to make this card?
WOW! Thanks for all of your great comments.
I made the collage using Photoshop Elements and a bit of patience. I am glad it invokes fairy tales and Alice in Wonderland - that was precisely what I was going for.
The table is actually from the Mad Tea Party. The background is an illustration from the fairy tale, The Nightingale. The cake is clipart I printed, hand colored and scanned. The crown is clipart. The chandelier is from the Design Within Reach catalog, and the text I stamped out, scanned, and then manipulated a bunch.
As for my daughter's hair and cuteness, it is all natural and not photoshopped!
